World Bee Day – Nairobi 2019

Congratulations to all the individuals and organisations involved in organising the World Bee Day celebrations in Nairobi on May 20th 2019.  The 1st World Bee Day in Kenya (2018) was celebrated in West Pokot County in Kapenguria town. The 2nd World Bee Day 20th May 2019 was held in Nairobi County at Railways Club grounds.

World bee day celebrations were organised by the Apiculture Platform of Kenya (APK) in collaboration with the National Government, FAO, Nairobi City and  County Government. A whole range of beekeeping stakeholders were involved in organising the event. There were 32 exhibitors on the day including 2 exhibitors from Uganda. The celebrations included a walk through the streets of Nairobi to raise awareness of bees among the ordinary public and educative talks, in addition to the exhibit stands.  Well done to all involved for raising awareness on the value of bees and beekeeping.
