-----April 2008 in a Kenyan Apiary-----

The long rains are here again in Kenya and the bees have been busy bringing in pollen, possibly from Keiapple, which has just finished flowering.  There is a smell of honey but o­n inspection there is little surplus and the bees are building new wax comb.  No colonies have absconded this year to date.  If any of our readers has a simple design for making a scale hive please forward to me at the contacts given at the bottom of this newsletter.  A scale hive could prove very useful in developing the floral calendar listed above under resources.
